Romanian and American volunteers, new ideas, ‘English’ projects

Surprises never cease to happen at the Foreign Languages Center and that’s why we keep being active; and because the context gives us various opportunities, I don’t see how and why we should waste the time.

At present, a new collaboration with the U.S. Peace Corps volunteer, Stephen Hallstrom, continues the series of the educational and recreational projects including the young volunteers. Our challenge is to get translated the Foreign Languages Center’s blog in English  exclusively by the volunteers, coordinated by me and Stephen. The team is mixed, made up from high school students and university students- older volunteers (The Big Brothers), who support us from home and abroad, and the new volunteers, who discovered us and fell in love at the first sight. Their names deserve to be mentioned because they represent the best example of active civil involvement, which produce positive effects for our community:

Constantin Drăgoi (University of Bucharest –Faculty of History)
Ovidiu Panaite ("Babes Bolyai" University- School of Arts –Applied Modern Languages, Cluj)
Oana Zlatovici (Malmo University – Faculty of Culture and Society, English Studies, Sweden)
Olga Unguru ("Al.I.Cuza" University, Iași, Master in Marketing and Business Communication)
Ioana Tuvene ("Al.I Cuza" National College, Focșani, 10th grade, Social sciences)
Alexandra Pădureț ("Al.I.Cuza" University, Iași, Faculty of Medicine)
Mihaela Hăican (University of Bucharest, Faculty of Letters, English-Japanese)
Liviu Dîrdală (‘Unirea’ National College, Focșani, 11th grade, Mathematics- Informatics)
Ioana Cozma (‘Unirea’ National College, Focșani, 11th grade, Social sciences)
Eduard Nicodei (University of York, Great Britain)
The blog will be officially launched in the presence of those who worked for it, at the National Book Fair, which is organized this year between 6 and 8 of October, at the ‘Mr.Gh. Pastia’ Municipal Theatre. The occasion is favorable, because this year is declared as being the International Year of Volunteering and so this young people really deserve appreciation on their work which is not that easy!

For them, part of the reward is the name posted on the blog, which, same time  with promoting, it will become the most "visible" visit card and recommendation to resume accessible from anywhere in the world, where volunteering matters and is appreciated as fair value.

Another part of their reward is the benefit of personal development, of learning the English Language with a native speaker, understanding the art of translation and linguistic comparisons.

And what cannot be matched and unfortunately is misunderstood and appreciated by others, is the feeling of friendship, of being helpful, of socializing which forms, develops and creates BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, with a beautiful and open-minded personality. For the young people is the best benefit, to know how to deal with the present in every context, national, European and international.

Au revoir to the Fair! You are welcommmmme….. as always!
